Assessment-led chiropractic

Back and neck care that starts with a proper look.

Every new patient begins with a full movement assessment and a plain-language explanation before any hands-on treatment. If chiropractic isn't the right fit, we'll say so.

Not sure chiropractic suits your problem?

Book the assessment on its own. You leave with a clear answer, whether that's a care plan with us or a referral elsewhere.

Your first visit

Four steps, in the same order, every time.

The first appointment runs about an hour. Nothing is rushed and nothing happens without your agreement.

  1. Talk it through

We ask when the problem started, what makes it better or worse, how you sleep, sit and move at work, and any past injuries or medical history that matters.

    Around 15 minutes
  2. Assess how you move

Posture, range of motion, strength and simple neurological checks. You stay in comfortable clothing and we explain each test as we go.

    Around 20 minutes
  3. Explain what we found

A straightforward account of what is likely going on, what we can help with, a realistic number of visits and what you can do between them.

    Around 10 minutes
  4. Treat, or refer on

If you're happy to go ahead, first treatment can begin the same day. If something needs a GP, imaging or another specialist first, we write that down for you instead.

Everyone new starts with an assessment. After that, most people move to shorter follow-ups spaced further apart as things settle.

What we see

Clear about what we treat, and what we don't.

Chiropractic helps with a specific set of joint and muscle problems. Knowing the edges of that is part of good care.

Common reasons to visit

  • Low-back pain and stiffness
  • Neck pain and tension headaches
  • Shoulder and upper-back tightness
  • Hip and pelvic discomfort
  • Recurring aches from desk work
  • Sport and training strains

When we refer you on

  • Unexplained weight loss or fever with back pain
  • Numbness or weakness that is getting worse
  • Recent significant fall or accident
  • Pain that doesn't change with any position
  • Anything that needs imaging first
Questions

Before you book.

Short answers to what new patients ask most. Anything else, add it to your booking note.

What should I wear?

Loose, comfortable clothing you can bend and turn in, such as a T-shirt and track pants. You won't need to change unless you'd prefer to.

Do adjustments hurt?

Most people feel pressure and sometimes a release, not pain. Some mild soreness for a day afterwards is normal. We use gentler, low-force methods whenever you prefer.

Do I need a referral from my doctor?

No. You can book directly. If your assessment shows you need a GP or imaging first, we'll tell you and give you a written summary to take along.

How many visits will I need?

It depends on the problem and how long you've had it. You'll get a realistic estimate at the end of your first visit, and we re-check progress regularly rather than booking open-ended blocks.

Can I come in while pregnant?

Yes. We adapt positioning and techniques for each stage of pregnancy. Mention it in your booking note so the right table and time are set aside.

What should I bring?

A list of any medications, and any scan reports or letters related to the problem. If you have a work setup you're unsure about, a photo of your desk helps.
